We are able to take customers files and machine complete from raw math data!  Give us a try and let us dazzle you! The last project we did was exactly what the customer wanted. Metalmite uses 5 axis machining to get the hard-to-reach areas of many parts as well. Our … [Read more...]

Aluminum Rocks

Metalmite loves the opportunity to make parts out of aluminum. There are challenges that we have overcome, and there are rewards when comparing it to machining alloy and stainless steels. This part was made in two operations on the Mori Seiki 5 axis mill. To learn more about how we can machine your aluminum parts send us an email. Metalmite uses 5 axis machining to get the hard-to-reach areas of many parts as well. Our DMG Mori Seiki Mills are the most powerful on the market they claim. … [Read more...]

Plastic machining at Metalmite

Metalmite has been asked to make many parts out of various plastics. People have asked why these manufacturers do not just use the new SLS technology Plastic Parts (Selective Laser Sintering) or the SLA or other 3D printing processes to make these parts in minutes.  Well, simply because there are only a few material options with those processes. We can machine almost anything. We have made medical products, aerospace plastics, and even hard plastics that can barely be cut … [Read more...]

Upgraded equipment at Metalmite pays off

Metalmite made the decision to purchase four new Samsung turning centers in the last year or so. This decision was difficult as we rely on our lathes so much for high tolerance and quick turnaround. Samsung has come through for us in every way so far.  These machines are said to be the same as our 1990 version Mori Seiki's anyway, apparently there was a private label agreement for Samsung to be making these in those years. But the new machines and programmable tails stocks have really reduced … [Read more...]

CNC Milling for speed!

All our CNC mills are Mori Seiki, with he exception of one OKK. We range from 10,000 to 27,000 RPM on the spindles directly, but w go to 45,000 RPM with a geared head. We are known for being a 5 axis machine shop, but we are more than that as well. We believe high speed machining is the wave of the future. We have updated tooling and software to be able to take full advantage of high speed machining in hardened steel as well as in standard strength steel. Read more about our high speed milling … [Read more...]

Metalmite says small holes, no problem

Recently someone contacted us and asked if we liked to machine very small parts. I said not sure if we like it or just end up having to do it a lot, but it is very common at Metalmite. In the picture attached here you will see a .027 inch drill that we needed to use in hundreds of parts.  This is where our Mori Seiki NV1500DCG "Mini mill" really excelerates!   Check it out! Read more "High Speed” and “Hard” Milling – what are they AND how do they get me what I want faster, better and cheaper? … [Read more...]

50,000 Reasons to Celebrate at Metalmite

Forty-five years ago - almost to this exact day - my father took out a 3 x 5 card and wrote "Job #1" on the top left corner, thus officially opening Metalmite for business out of our home's basement. To commemorate this event, I have attached a photo of him and two helpers at work in those early years. We are proud to announce that, using that same numbering system, we just wrote "Job #50,000!" We are honored that we have been able to serve so many for so many years! We have also attached a few … [Read more...]
